UMTS (3G) radio optimisation and troubleshooting

Data services usage is taking off thanks to HSPA. Radio access has to be tuned to provide an optimum QoS for these strategic data services. Cigale Iub provides combined IP level and radio level analysis.

Overview

Based on the analysis of subscribers’ real traffic on Iub and Iur interfaces, KPIs from Cigale Iub weight problems in order to set troubleshooting priorities.

Cigale Iub also brings high-end troubleshooting features to speed up investigations. A time-saving top-down investigation methodology seamlessly leads the user through natural path starting from high-level Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) down to protocol decoding.

Radio optimisation dedicated features

Having an optimised neighboring is the prerequisite to call and session stability. Cigale Iub brings an efficient decision support for 3G neighbor lists and 3G to 2G neighbor lists optimisation.

Distributions of radio measurements are snapshots depicting characteristics of cells. Cells can be ranked according to these characteristics.

Troubleshooting

Cigale Iub provides a complete troubleshooting environment combining signaling, radio and IP services levels including CDR, call trace (flow charts), detailed protocol decoding, radio measurement charts and embedded GIS.

Facilities to analyse FP level are also available: FP frames and RRC frames resulting of their reassembling are displayed in table and flow chart forms.
